Move Green with Lompoc Van and Storage

Chris DiJulio

Moving does not have to come at the expense of the environment. As part of our ongoing commitment to improving how we serve our customers and our community, we wanted to share how Lompoc Van & Storage continues to move green in our day-to-day operations.

Sustainability is not a marketing trend for us. It is a practical approach built into how we plan, pack, transport, and store our customers’ belongings.

Our Commitment to Greener Moving

As a locally owned moving company, we believe responsible moving is smart moving. Over the years, we have focused on making operational choices that reduce waste and unnecessary fuel use while still delivering professional service.

Whether we are moving a household or a business, our team looks for ways to work more efficiently, from planning the move to how materials are used before, during, and after moving day.

In 2025 alone, we reused over 5,000 gently used boxes and saved approximately 3 tons of packing waste from local landfills.

How We Move Green

Fuel-Efficient Trucks

Our trucks are maintained for fuel efficiency, and routes are planned to reduce unnecessary mileage. This helps lower emissions while keeping moves on schedule.

Eco-Friendly Packing Materials

Lompoc Van & Storage offers free, gently used boxes with every move to help reduce waste. Whenever possible, we also use:

  • Recyclable boxes
  • Re-used boxes in good condition
  • Environmentally conscious packing supplies, like packing paper instead of styrofoam packing peanuts and moving blankets instead of plastic wrap, whenever possible

Recycling and Waste Reduction

Cardboard, paper, and packing materials are recycled before, during, and after moves to minimize landfill waste.

Efficient Planning = Fewer Emissions

Careful planning saves time, fuel, and energy. Our move coordinators design efficient move plans that benefit both customers and the environment. With our warehouse located in Lompoc, we are not coming from Los Angeles like some “local” movers.

Sustainable Storage Solutions

We manage our storage facilities with an emphasis on responsible energy use, limiting lighting and maintaining a climate-stable environment rather than a fully climate-controlled one. We do this while maintaining secure and protected storage conditions.
