We have been helping families move on the Central Coast since 1959. Today, we are proud to share some big news. USA TODAY named Lompoc Van & Storage to its America’s Best Moving Companies 2026 list.
That puts our Lompoc team on a national list. We could not have done it without the customers who trusted us with their homes, their offices, and their favorite couches.
What Is the America’s Best Moving Companies List?
The list is a project from USA TODAY and a research firm called Plant-A Insights Group. The team started with more than 36,000 moving companies nationwide. About 3,700 of them met the rules to be judged.
To make it into that group, a mover needed two things:
- Real U.S. operations that matched federal DOT and FMCSA records
- At least 100 customer reviews
From there, the top 750 companies earned the title of America’s Best Moving Companies 2026. That is a small group out of more than 36,000 movers.
How the Winners Were Picked
Nobody can buy a spot on this list, and movers do not apply. Plant-A says it has a strict no-pay-to-play policy. The rankings came from real customer feedback.
Here is what went into the scores:
- A survey of more than 17,000 customers
- A review of more than 2 million online customer reviews
- Six areas of service: care of belongings, being on time, professionalism and communication, price honesty, overall reliability, and customer trust
- A check for news about money, legal, or ethics problems between October 2023 and October 2025
We left out companies with major red flags. So this award is about doing the job well and doing it the right way.
Why This Means So Much to Us
Lompoc Van & Storage is family-owned and has been for over 65 years. We are part of the Lincoln family of companies, and our owner, Chris DiJulio, and our crews still treat every move like it is our own family’s move.
The six areas USA TODAY looked at are the same things we care about every day:
- Care of belongings: Your things matter to you, so they matter to us.
- Showing up on time: Moving day is stressful enough without waiting.
- Clear communication: You should always know what is happening and what comes next.
- Honest pricing: Local moves with us usually run from $900 to $3,500. Long-distance moves usually run from $2,500 to $12,000. Price depends on how much you are moving and how far you are going, so we always give you a clear estimate first.
- Reliability and trust: We do what we say we will do.

A Quick Tip for Picking Any Mover
Awards are nice, but you should always do your own homework. Before you hire any mover, ask for their USDOT number and look it up. Read recent customer reviews. Get your estimate in writing. A good mover will be happy to help with all three.
Thank You, Central Coast
